Not a dry eye was in Pine Valley as ABC shut the city down!

Michael Starr reports on the last day of All My Children as the residents turned the lights out in Pine Valley, PA.

“All My Children” taped its final episode Tuesday in LA — and series co-star Ricky Paull Goldin says there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how many tears there were — more than your average soap,” Goldin told me yesterday. “Everyone was crying. At one point, I was taking people on a little tour of the set on the final day — I wasn’t allowed to do that, but I forgot — so I snuck ‘em through the sets and I started to get very emotional.

“I saw some of our sets coming down and ‘my’ loft, Jake’s loft, was gone and the Martin living room [set] was scaled down and Tad’s living room was stripped down and some of the other sets had tape across them.

“It was like a crime scene,” says Goldin, who joined “AMC” as Dr. Jake Martin in 2008 after seven years at “Guiding Light” (he also spent some time on “The Young and the Restless”). “I turned around and saw the sets as they were and got choked up and emotional, really for the first time, since it hit me that this was really happening.

“You never really think it’s going to go away.”

Susan Lucci is not in denial. She knows Tuesday was her last day filming All My Children as it exists now on ABC. At the same time, she said, “it just didn’t seem real.”

“Walking out on to the set for my first scene yesterday morning, I have to say, I started to feel it,” the actress told TVGuide.com Wednesday, just several hours after the entire production wrapped its storied 42-year-run on broadcast television. “I had to rein my emotions back in because I had to work … but the setting was spectacular! Perfect for the last day of shooting.”

The Christina Bennett Lind & Sarah Glendening Interview

Michael Fairman On Air / On Soaps recently posted the following interview.

It seems like a part of a through line of the other canceled soaps before it, that as All My Children goes off the air come this September 23rd after its 40-year-network television run on ABC, it follows the now tradition set by Guiding Light, and As the World Turns …as another soap leaving daytime with a gay love story and/or gay central characters attached to it.  And, as AMC heads into its final month of air shows and final few weeks of taping, the powers-that-be have finally advanced (and rather quickly we might add!) the love story of Bianca Montgomery and Marissa Chandler.

TV Guide Networks pays Tribute to AMC

Photo JPI

Cameron Mathison will host a one-hour special on the TV Guide Network honoring “AMC” on Sunday, September 11 at 8:00 PM EST.  Mathison shared with me during the AMCFCW that he had just interviewd  Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo du Pres) for the special the day of our Celebration Event among many others .  Cameron  is also a special correspondent for “Extra” and “Good Morning America.” “GMA” which airs every morning on ABC will also be airing a special on “AMC” at an air-date yet to be announced.  Kelly Ripa seems to have also thrown his name in the hat for the seat that Regis Philbin will be vacating early this fall. Personally I think that would be a great combo! Just sayin!

B&B grabs Jacob Young!

Photo ABC

In an Exclusive interview with TV Guides Michael Logan.

If All My Children does indeed move on to the internet as planned, it’ll happen without Jacob Young. The Emmy-winning actor has struck a deal to rejoin CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful as fashion-industry scion Rick Forrester, a role he played from 1997 to ’99. And get this: Young will hit the air September 26 — the Monday right after AMC ends its run on ABC! TV Guide Magazine got the exclusive scoop from this in-demand star.
