Why do you keep fit?

No. 1, I was raised with it. My mom is a Pilates instructor today in her 60s in Stuart. Exercise makes me feel good and centered, makes me feel healthy. Exercise is a way to relieve stress and feel good. And being a woman, you want to keep your butt tight, arms lean. You want to look good.

As I got older, [I realized] the health reasons: to maintain a healthy heart. My grandmother in Stuart is 100 years old and she does her recumbent bike every day.

I’ve always been a skinny kid; I remember my mom giving me milkshakes [to gain weight]. I still struggle to keep weight on. I do weight training to give muscle on top of my small frame, so I don’t look too skinny and unhealthy.

What’s your workout routine?

Before I had my daughter, Willow — she’s 2 — I worked out right till the day I gave birth. I did the elliptical [machine] the night before I gave birth.

I do weights and the elliptical. With a trainer, I do different weight routines and lots of sit-ups and push-ups and bands. Strength training keeps the muscles on my body.

Sessions are about an hour. If I’m doing cardio with the elliptical, I’m stretching then doing 45 minutes of cardio, then stretching again after. If I’m doing weights, I’m focusing on my core [abs and back], legs, arms.

There is a gym that’s within our development where I do my elliptical and weights with the trainer. But at home, I have weights and bands and great little dumbbells and a mat — my mother bought these. If I don’t feel like going to the gym, I’ll work out at home.

I used to dance when I was younger and continued with Pilates, which is good for dancing. Did Pilates, running and weight training before the baby.

How much baby weight did you gain?

I was a little underweight to start. I started at 108 and put on 16 pounds. I ate so healthy and good, it all went to the baby. I gave birth three weeks early, which was fine. She weighed five pounds, two ounces. My whole family was always petite babies.

To All My Beloved Lovers of Pine Valley,

It is at the holiday time that one thinks of friends and family and longs to be in touch.  And that is why I’m writing to all of you. 

We have had a hard year, suffering the death of two of our shows, feeling our soap community scatter to parts unknown.  When I stand on line at the grocery store  and see the ABC Soaps-in-Depth magazine, I think they have to rename it…”Soap-In-Depth”, it looks so sad sitting there with only General Hospital left.

But as with any loss, there is a special bonding and renewed appreciation that occurs between those who remain, and I certainly feel that.  I have had some wonderful conversations with fans, people I meet on the street.  Not that I haven’t always had wonderful conversation with any of you I have had the pleasure of meeting, but somehow these exchanges feel more substantial as we discuss how the ending of AMC has affected each of us.  I have so admired and marveled at your passion and your loyalty to all of us over the years, and I hope you know just how much it has always meant to us, and still means to us today.

Last Christmas was my first without my mother.  As a family we thought of her, spoke about her, and kept her spirit alive in our hearts.  That is what we must all do this year, our first Christmas without Pine Valley, we must remember the ideals and the spirit of the show, and of the whole community, and carry them with us in our hearts.

On August 30, 2011, the All My Children cast and crew filmed their final scenes. On September 23, 2011, All My Children aired on Disney/ABC for the last time. While Disney/ABC heavily promoted its replacement show, Prospect Park remained silent. On November 18, 2011, One Life to Live will film its last scenes with a final air date in mid-January 2012.

Through it all, the only information Prospect Park has released directly to the public is that Union/Guild negotiations were taking longer than expected, air dates could be affected, and a new Chief Technology Officer was hired. Then The Online Network (TOLN) (http://theonlinenetwork.com/) was announced. Prospect Park deemed TOLN as future home of All My Children and One Life to Live when they are produced online. The TOLN internet site is a static (non-changing) page with entry fields for a name and either email address or cell phone number to receive updates on the network. The only problem is there are no updates, just the same static page, all the time collecting information.

Usually when inaccuracies are spread, there are statements made to set the record straight. Prospect Park has chosen a different approach, one aligned with the Disney/ABC policy of simply not responding.

Since July 7th, near daily rumors, innuendos, and speculation have surfaced regarding the shows, their casts, crews, studios, schedules, and air dates. Some soap sites keep scores like baseball rosters of who has signed, who has been approached, and who hasn’t. Tweets have become the gospel word, setting off firestorms of articles, blogs, discussions, posts, and further speculation. By the time a Tweet has been repeated in print two or three times, it has lost its providence and becomes truth.

Even Soap fan groups that blindly extolled Prospect Park as the savior of these shows and the soap genre in July are now questioning Prospect Park and its intentions with certain actors and characters. These groups for months vehemently criticized those who questioned Prospect Park. Now they are not only questioning Prospect Park but are bombarding them to voice their concerns, not over whether the shows will survive, but whether their favorite actors will be hired.

Disappointing news for fans of the All My Children reboot – Variety reports that the launch (

Sources familiar with Prospect Park, which had announced July 7 that it would bring both “Children” and “One Life to Live” back to life early next year as Internet series, believe they are leaning toward staggering the reboot of the two soaps, with “One Life” returning ahead of its counterpart.

ABC aired its final episode of “All My Children” on Sept. 23, replaced by food talkshow “The Chew.” “One Life” is scheduled for a January farewell from the Alphabet net, to be succeeded by health-and-lifestyle show “The Revolution.”

The soaps are scheduled to air on newly created The Online Network (TOLN), which Prospect Park has said will launch in January with entertainment and lifestyle shows that would compliment the soaps.

While several cast members have been locked up for “One Life,” the same hasn’t been true for “Children” — underscored by series legend Susan Lucci turning down an offer to stay with the series. In September, Cameron Mathison and Lindsay Hartley did sign on for the post-ABC online version of “Children.”

From the day Prospect Park announced its plans to keep the two soaps alive in an ad-supported online format, questions were raised over how the projects would be funded, with speculation quickly arising that a cable home would necessarily be found for them.

Former Disney Studios head Rich Frank co-founded Prospect Park, which co-produces such shows as “Royal Pains” for USA and “Wilfred” for FX, with industry vet Jeff Kwatinetz.

Catwoman made a stopover in the Queen City this week.

No, not Anne Hathaway, who is slated to play Batman’s nemesis in the upcoming film “The Dark Knight Rises” (which recently filmed scenes in Newark ). Not Michelle Pfeiffer, who played the fictional feline fiend in director Tim Burton’s “Batman Returns.” It was the original: Lee Meriwether, who starred in

the 1966 film version of “Batman,” who swung by the North Avenue home of BKS1radio.com in Plainfield for an interview with Monique Donyale of Piscataway.

“Definitely my favorite Catwoman,” said Norman Bradley, CEO of Best Kept Secrets Entertainment, which owns and operates the popular Internet radio station. “This was huge for us.”

Meriwether was in New Jersey to join several other past stars of the original “Batman” film and television series in taking part in the NJ Comic Expo at the Teaneck Armor.
